Small Talk

Beneath boring social navigation

Beneath the facts on a facebook profile

True selves, whimpering under sedation

A story, found under that fake, even, smile

The waiter doesn’t care about your day,

That cute girl won’t care about the weather

Useless, aimless conversation, childsplay

Post-childhood people, alone together

Most kids will lose their blunt sincerity

And become adults with a conjoined mask

Personalities, void of clarity

If you know the conversation, why ask?

Last night’s ball game, discussed like some great tale,

But I don’t like silence, I guess it’s stale.
